Softball has been part of Hartford senior Tobye Sull’s life for a while.
Sull recently got an opportunity to play for America’s Team in Germany last month. Sull found out she was selected before her junior season and said this was an opportunity she wanted to take advantage of.
Sull fundraised to pay for her trip, which included a 5K Run/Walk, a 50-50 raffle, and a firepit raffle that was embroidered with an American flag.
Sull spent 10 days in Germany and played three games at a local site followed by a tournament. One difference for the tournament Sull played in was the team that scored the most runs won the tournament, rather than a bracketed tournament.
Sull said the team just continued to win and eventually, her team ended up winning the gold medal. Sull said bringing home the gold was a great experience.
Not only was Sull’s experience one to remember, but she also brought home some good advice she hopes to incorporate when playing with her high school team next spring.
Sull was named a second-team All-Lyon County League selection as an infielder this past spring for Southern Lyon County. Along with playing softball for Southern Lyon County, Sull plays basketball and volleyball for Hartford.
