The Emporia State soccer team will start the year ranked #17 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll. The Lady Hornets finished last season ranked #18 in the country after falling in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. It is the third-straight season the team has started the year in the top 20 of the coaches poll. Emporia State returns six players from last year’s team who logged over 1,000 minutes to help lead ESU to a 14-6-4 record and the 2023 MIAA Tournament title. It is the first year for new head coach Jane Grimley-Gunn who replaces Bryan Sailer on the sideline. ESU is set to begin practice on Monday and will scrimmage Butler County CC in the preseason. The Lady Hornets open 2024 on the road at Minnesota State September 6.
