Student success is the key goal of education, whether you’re discussing K-12 or higher education.
At Emporia State University, a new mentoring program is designed to foster success in and out of the classroom.
Vice President for Student Success Taylor Kriley had information about the new Learning Communities program during the most recent installment of the ESU Buzz. She says the mentoring program starts immediately for all new incoming students.
Kriley also mentioned new ways to bring students and community members together, including the Friday Night event at Champions Landing on Aug. 23 and the Downtown Live at the Hive on Aug. 24.
Kriley’s familiar with the campus, graduating from ESU with undergraduate and graduate degrees in school counseling and communication with a minor in leadership studies. She then started a career as a university administrator as Emporia State’s director of fraternity and sorority life and as senior director of the Center for Student Involvement.
Meanwhile, classes begin Monday at Flint Hills Technical College, and President Caron Daugherty will join KVOE with the monthly Tech Talk interview segment Tuesday.
