It may surprise you to know that better health can start with a clean set of sheets and clothes. That’s according to Newman Regional Health Community Care Team Director Karyn Shields.
Shields spoke with KVOE News during the second free laundry event organized in partnership between Newman and Laundry Land APC and supported by the United Way of the Flint Hills, Flint Hills Technical College, The Emporia Public Library and ECKAN all of which have provided monetary or volunteer support since the program launched last month.
Speaking of last month, Shields tells KVOE News that the first event saw a total of 19 people stop by the laundromat at 622 East 6th. Thursday, nearly 20 people stopped by in the first hour alone highlighting the need for a service such as this according to Shields.
The next free laundry event is scheduled for Thursday September 19.
