Unemployment was on the rise across Kansas for July.
The month saw the state’s unemployment rate increase from 3.0 percent in June to 3.2 percent. Labor Economist Emily Doerkson says private sector jobs increased by 3,900 for the month.
That growth, however, was offset by a decrease of 5,600 government jobs for the month.
Locally, unemployment rates were up areawide with Lyon County increasing from 3.7 percent to 4.0 percent the same rate as Chase and Greenwood counties.
Coffey and Osage counties were tied for the highest unemployment rate at 4.6 percent. Morris County, meanwhile, has the lowest unemployment rate at 3.3 percent
