Following a smooth — albeit poorly-attended — primary election earlier this month, the Lyon County Election Office is already gearing up for the general election Nov. 5.
County Clerk and Election Officer Tammy Vopat expects a much heavier turnout for the general election because it’s a presidential election. She also says things are ramping up towards a busy October.
Hours have not yet been set for the offsite voter opportunity at the Fairgrounds Anderson Building.
Meanwhile, KVOE News has finalized its Candidate Forum interview schedule ahead of the general election:
*Oct. 10: Kansas House 60th District featuring Democrat challenger Mic McGuire and Republican incumbent Mark Schreiber.
*Oct. 15: Lyon County Commission Second District featuring Democrat challenger Ron McCoy and Republican incumbent Doug Peck.
*Oct. 17: Kansas Senate 17th District featuring Republican Mike Argabright and Democrat Lillian Lingenfelter
*Oct. 22: Lyon County Commission Third District featuring Republican Chris Bartel and Democrat Bill Nienstedt.
All programs will go from 10:06-11 am and will feature questions from KVOE News and KVOE listeners.
