The Emporia Community Foundation has announced its annual scholarship awards for area students.
In a news release from the foundation Monday, ECF announced it has awarded nearly $130,000 to almost 125 area students for the 2024-25 school year. While it primarily serves students in a seven-county area — Lyon, Chase, Coffey, Greenwood, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties — ECF grants scholarship awards across the United States “to the school of the student’s choice.”
As part of this year’s awards, the Community Foundation delivered checks totaling more than $37,900 to Emporia State University and over $12,120 to Flint Hills Technical College. The scholarship dollars are made possible by 80 individual scholarship funds managed by the foundation.
ECF Executive Director Linda-Kehres-Schmidt, in the aforementioned news release, says “We are honored to be able to work with so many community partners and individual donors who believe in the future generation and want to support the educational aspirations of our young people.”
