Another hot, sticky day is ahead for the KVOE listening area.
Following an air temperature of 97 and peak heat index of 104 Monday, air temperatures will climb to the mid-90s with heat index readings around 100 degrees Tuesday. Similar conditions will be in place for Wednesday.
Tuesday has isolated showers and storms possible before lunchtime and again from mid-afternoon to mid-evening. The afternoon-evening storms might be strong to borderline severe, with wind gusts up to 60 mph possible. The north half of the KVOE listening area is in a marginal severe weather risk.
More storms are possible Thursday afternoon and likely for Thursday night. Severe weather is unlikely and the potential impact of storms on the Emporia State football season opener at home against Washburn is currently unclear.
