The MIAA released its preseason polls for cross country on Friday morning.
The Emporia State men’s cross country team was picked to finish seventh. Emporia State received 56 points in the poll. Pittsburg State is the preseason favorite with seven first place votes. Northwest Missouri was picked second and received four first place votes. Washburn was picked third and didn’t receive a first place vote. Missouri Southern received the final first place vote and was picked fourth.
The Emporia State women’s cross country team was picked to finish 11th. Friday. Emporia State received 42 points in the poll. Pittsburg State is the preseason favorite receiving 11 first place votes. Missouri Southern was picked second followed by Fort Hays State. Neither Southern or Fort Hays State received a first-place vote. Nebraska Kearney and Rogers State round out the top five, both receiving a first place vote.
Emporia State opens the season next Saturday at the JK Gold Classic in Augusta.
