The Alliance for a Healthy Kansas is inviting people to attend a BINGO Night and Community Conversation on Medicaid Expansion this week.
Activities are tentatively set for the Trusler Business Center, 719 Commercial, starting at 7 pm Thursday. All ages can attend free of charge, and residents can RSVP online to save both their seat and their BINGO cards. Click here for that link.
The event is sponsored by ExpandKancare.com, which says expansion will help to reduce health care costs for residents, even if they aren’t on KanCare. The group also says expansion would raise KanCare’s financial eligibility limits and help rural hospitals.
Kansas is one of 10 US states that have not expanded access to Medicaid. Critics in the Legislature have said expansion is too expensive, the 90-percent federal funding match could dry up at any time and expansion would cover “able-bodied” residents who should have to work to get insurance benefits.
