Wreaths Across America will have its second event in Emporia this upcoming fall, and the American Legion Post 5 has a special way for you to help with donations.
The Legion will debut its Second Sunday Supper this weekend at the Legion, 2915 West 12th. Legion spokesperson Clay Childs says the goal is to sponsor or buy wreaths for all the soldiers buried at Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Organizer Scott Burenheide has mentioned plans to expand the recognition of veterans who have passed away after placing wreaths in honor of the different service branches last year. Childs says the Legoin wants to sponsor at least 10 wreaths with each meal.
Serving will take place from 5-7 pm Sunday. Spaghetti, salad, garlic bread and cookies are on the menu. Cost is a suggested $10 per person.
