There were pockets of heavy rain over an extended period. Southwest Morris County spent much of Thursday night in an urban and small stream flood advisory after up to 3.5 inches of rain fell, according to National Weather Service projections.
The rain came after the US Drought Monitor issued its weekly update Thursday morning. There was virtually no change from the Aug. 29 report, meaning abnormally dry conditions for far north and far south Lyon County, the southern halves of Chase and Coffey counties, all of Greenwood and Wabaunsee counties and most of Morris and Osage counties.
No rain is in sight for at least a week. High temperatures will be around 80 Friday and Sunday, with a high of 75 Saturday. Temperatures next week will likely stay in the 80s.
