The Emporia State cross country teams opened up the year on the road in Wichita this weekend at the JK Gold Invitational hosted by Wichita State. The host Shockers dominated on the men’s side with a 27-point victory over North Texas while Tulsa won the women’s team race by a commanding 55 points over North Texas with Wichita State finishing third. Emporia State finished sixth on the men’s side and eighth in the women’s team score. Luke Gleason had the top time for Emporia State to finish 27th while Mason Bina was 44th for the ESU women. The Hornets return to action September 21 at the Greeno-Dirksen Invitational hosted by Nebraska in Lincoln.
