Emporia Police officers continue investigating after a rash of auto burglaries reported late last week.
Police Capt. Ray Mattas is encouraging anybody with information to call the Lyon County Emergency Communications non-emergency number at 620-343-4225, asking for Investigations Capt. Lisa Hayes, or to reach out to Lyon County Crime Stoppers — either by calling 620-342-2273 or by using the P43Tips mobile app.
Officers are investigating after better than 20 reports of vehicles either being burglarized or stolen. Burglarized vehicles were unlocked or had unlocked doors, with items taken including loose change, cash, purses, wallets and backpacks.
Residents are encouraged to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables daily. Residents are also asked to remove any firearms, especially if vehicles will be left unattended for extended periods.
