The 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks is coming Wednesday and residents will spend their day reminding passersby to “never forget.”
Random Acts of Patriotism will take place on the Melvern overpass at mile marker 160 on Interstate 35 starting at 7 am. The patriotic demonstration will see close to a hundred American flags displayed on the overpass from sun up to sun down.
Random Acts of Patriotism began back in 2002 just a year after nearly 3,000 people lost their lives after hijacked planes crashed into both World Trade Center towers, the Pentagon and a field outside Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Event spokesperson Deb Fuller joined KVOE’s Morning Show Monday to preview the activities. Fuller says Random Acts is something everyone should experience at least once.
She adds that over the years they have encountered numerous individuals who have been deeply touched and impacted by the display.
