USD 253 Emporia has announced its nominees for notable annual state honors.
Kelly Olson was nominated for Kansas Master Teacher. Olson is an adaptive special educatio nteacher at Riverside Elementary.
The district Teacher of the Year candidates were also announced — Shelley Sparks, a fifth-grade teacher at Timmerman Elementary, and Andrew Hawley, a seventh-grade social studies teacher at Emporia Middle School.
Master Teachers will be announced in February, while regional Teacher of the Year finalists will be announced in April. The USD 253 nominees are set to appear on KVOE’s Showcase with Superintendent Allison Anderson-Harder this upcoming Tuesday as part of KVOE’s Morning Show.
