Two Emporia High teams were in action on Thursday.
The Emporia High girls golf team played in the Seaman Invitational in Topeka. Junior Elise Eckert finished third with a round of 83. Kelsey Shull finished in a tie for 37th with a 119. Emporia High is off until Sept. 23 when it travels to Topeka West.
The Emporia High boys soccer team fell in the semifinals of the Salina South Invitational to Hays, 2-1. After a scoreless first half, Hays broke the tie in the 46th minute and added its second goal in the 51st minute. Benji Gamez added the Spartans’ lone goal in the 77th minute. Emporia High (1-3) will take on either Salina South or St. Mary’s Academy on Saturday at 2 p.m.
