The Emporia High boys soccer team extended its winning streak to two with a 2-1 victory over Hayden Tuesday night in its home opener.
Junior Kevin Magana gave the Spartans a 1-0 with his first of two goals in the 13th minute. Hayden tied the game in the 31st minute on a penalty kick. Magana converted on a penalty kick in the 59th minute to give the Spartans the lead they wouldn’t relinquish. Magana said the Spartans had to clean some miscues in the first half to pick up the victory.
Emporia High coach Victor Ibarra said a win is a win.
Emporia High (3-3, 1-0) hosts Maize South, the defending Class 5A state champions at 6:15 p.m. Monday at EHS.
