An Osage County barn will get state funding for renovations into an agritourism location.
Sunshine & Whiskey Ranch, about three miles east of Carbondale is getting $25,000 as part of the Kansas Department of Commerce’s Barn Adaptation and Restoration Needs, or BARN, program. Funds help to transform iconic barns into destination-based assets, according to the department. Lieutenant Governor and Commerce Secretary David Toland says the program helps to preserve the state’s agriculture-based traditions and set up new agritourism locations.
Awarded locations also must provide matching funds. The amount required of Sunshine & Whiskey Ranch is not listed.
