At least four head of cattle were killed after a wreck early Monday morning in north Lyon County.
The crash happened around 2:30 am in the 1300 block of US Highway 56, between Allen and Admire and nearly 20 miles north of Emporia.
Lyon County Deputy Robert Miller says deputies, Allen-Admire Fire and Emporia-Lyon County Fire/EMS were dispatched after a report of a car hitting a cow. Miller says 45-year-old Shawna Beck of Americus was westbound on US-56 when at least five black cows climbed onto the highway. Beck’s car hit the small herd and killed at least four of the cows.
Beck was observed on site by medical responders and declined a hospital trip afterward. The investigation is ongoing.
