Emporia State quarterback Gunnar Gundy is now a two-time winner of the MIAA Football Offensive Player of the Week award after earning the nod following Week 3 action last weekend. Gundy also won the award after ESU’s victory over Washburn in Week 0. Last week, Gundy set ESU single-game records for attempts, completions, and total plays finishing 49-for-74 for 454 yards with three touchdowns with 39 rushing yards. The 87 total offensive attempts broke Braxton Marstall’s record from 2018. Braden Gleason had the previous record for completions and attempts in a game after finishing 48 of 67 in 2021. ESU has won a player of the week award every week of the season through four games and in all three position groups. The #11 Hornets visit Bearcat Stadium to face Northwest Missouri Saturday. Pregame coverage begins at 12:30 p.m. on the Hornet Sports Network.
