Bridge work is expected to start next week in eastern Greenwood County.
The Kansas Department of Transportation has announced a project for the US Highway 54 bridge over the Verdigris (VER-duh-griss) River, about two miles north-northwest of Toronto and just west of the Woodson County line. KDOT says the work involves a handrail and deck overhang repair.
There will be temporary signals to handle one-lane traffic, and there will be “brief” delays for travelers.
PBX Corporation & Subsidiary of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, won the contract with a nearly $179,000 bid.
The goal is to have the project finished by mid-November.
