Homecoming is right around the corner for Emporia State University.
Homecoming activities officially begin Monday with the Traditions Trek at 8 am, a social media event sponsored by the Student Alumni Board. Alumni Board Traditions Keeper Chair Camila Viorel, a recent guest of KVOE’s Morning Show, says she is very excited for homecoming activities to get underway and she knows she is not alone.
Viorel says you can feel the anticipation and excitement across campus “in the air.”
Other homecoming activities will include tricycle races at 7 pm Wednesday in the Kellog Circle, the annual Hayes Lecture at 7 pm Thursday inside of the Memorial Union’s Webb Hall, the homecoming bonfire at 8 pm Friday at Wilson Park and the homecoming musical “She Loves Me” which has four performances Thursday through Sunday. Alll performances will take place inside of the Karl C. Bruder Theater in King Hall and will begin at 7:30 pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday with a 2 pm matinee on Sunday.
ESU Theatre Director Aubrey Wilson, an ESU graduate, says she is just as excited for the coming slate of events now as she was when she was a student.
All of these activities will lead up to the homecoming parade through downtown Emporia at 10 am Saturday followed by the homecoming football game against Northeastern State at 2 pm inside of Welch Stadium. For more information or a complete list of homecoming activities visit emporia.edu/homecoming.
