An AMBER Alert from Missouri ended with a traffic stop in Wabaunsee County on Thursday night.
Wabaunsee County Undersheriff Eric Kirsch says deputies and Alma City Marshal Mike Baker noticed the suspect vehicle at the Interstate 70 on-ramp in Paxico. The vehicle allegedly had a 12-year-old child kidnapped from Warsaw, Missouri, inside.
Kirsch says 36-year-old Anna Savard of Boise, Idaho, was taken into custody and is awaiting extradition to Benton County, Missouri.
Kirsch says the child was taken without permission by Savard, the non-custodial biological mother. The child was unharmed and taken into police protective custody.
Kirsch thanked Baker, the Kansas and Missouri Highway Patrols, Kansas Juvenile Intake, Warsaw Police Department and Benton County Sheriff’s Office for their work in this case.
