There is a lot on the Emporia City Commission’s agenda for its action meeting Wednesday.
Commissioners will start by possibly creating a Planned Unit Development overlay at 2915 West Sixth and then possibly approving a final plat for the Lockwood housing addition at that address. The development is set to bring 24 new homes to southwest Emporia.
Speaking of housing, commissioners could rezone property at 1200 Whittier Place Lane from single-family detached to multi-family before passing over $10 million in Industrial Revenue Bonds for the Whittier Place III apartment construction project.
Commissioners are set to pass a resolution of intent to reimburse costs related to Public Building Commission revenue bonds and Emporia’s future Fire Department headquarters in the 500 block of Market.
Other action meeting business includes a license agreement with RCM LLC for Mitchell-Markowitz Construction’s new office complex at 502 Graham and the establishment of a credit card processing fee. Two executive sessions are planned, one for acquiring an easement and one for economic development.
The study meeting to follow involves discussions about social media in local government, cost-share matters with the city’s Hazardous Sidewalk program and matters involving the Municipal Airport.
The action meeting begins at 11 am at the Municipal Court Room. The study meeting will be at the Municipal Airport.
