The US Army Corps of Engineers is updating a list of hunting policies to align with regulations in place through the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.
The regulations affect Corps-managed lakes and reservoirs across Kansas, including Council Grove Lake and John Redmond Reservoir in the KVOE listening area and El Dorado, Fall River and Marion near the signal area.
The new regulations include five categories: baiting, night hunting equipment, use of trail or game cameras, commercial guiding of hunters and limits for antlerless white-tailed deer. Some highlights:
*Nobody can place, deposit, expose or scatter bait while hunting or preparing to hunt, either on land or in waters in the state of Kansas
*Using artificial light, scopes and equipment enhancing visible light, as well as thermal-imaging scopes or other equipment at night, is not allowed
*Nobody can place, maintain or use a trail or game camera on lands and waters for any purpose, although this does not prohibit the use of mapping systems or programs
*Commercial guides need Corps authorization before advertising or soliciting any business or charging for events and services
*The first antlerless white-tailed deer permit is valid statewide while in season.
