Traffic has returned to normal following a vehicle accident east of Emporia Wednesday.
The accident was reported around 11:15 am in the northbound lane of Interstate 35 just west of the Neosho Rapids exit 141. Full details on the accident are currently pending, however, Lyon County Undersheriff John Koelsch says a semi and SUV were involved and no medical transports were needed.
Northbound traffic had to be detoured to Road 175 for a little over an hour as crews worked to remove debris and wreckage from the scene. Traffic has been completely reopened.

Traffic just west of the Neosho Rapids exit on Interstate 35 is being detoured for the time being following a vehicle accident late Wednesday morning.
According to Lyon County Undersheriff John Koelsch, the accident involved a semi and an SUV, however, a full narrative is pending from the Kansas Highway Patrol. No medical transports were needed, however, the accident has impacted on traffic in the vicinity.
According to Koelsch, the accident has closed down northbound traffic which is being detoured onto Road 175 until further notice. Drivers can re-enter the interstate via Road X.
