A decision on potential trial start dates in a Lyon County vehicular murder case could be reached next month.
Adonis Dailey has a status hearing Nov. 20 after a motion hearing Wednesday in Lyon County District Court. Trial could begin as soon as Nov. 25, although it might not start until Dec. 16 or Jan. 13.
Defense attorney Rick Meier has requested a bond modification to remove an electronic monitoring device, saying — in part — Dailey is on supervision for another matter in Sedgwick County and Dailey plans to challenge the charges instead of running from them.
Dailey was originally charged with single counts of first-degree murder and flee and elude following a crash that killed one man in late April of 2023 near the Emporia tollgate on the Kansas Turnpike. An alternate flee and elude count was added to the list of charges at the request of prosecutors back in late July.
The crash was allegedly the result of a supposed chase involving the Kansas Highway Patrol. Dailey was allegedly driving at speeds at or above 125 mph during the chase.
