Emporia Enterprises is looking to go into future discussions on the recent Vision First Economic Development report with an open mind and open ears.
That’s according to Emporia Enterprises President Justin Mallon who spoke with KVOE News Thursday morning following the most recent enterprises meeting Wednesday afternoon. As has been reported in recent weeks, the aforementioned report from Vision First suggested the future dissolution of Emporia Enterprises along with a reconfiguration of the current economic development structure in Emporia.
When asked if he felt the dissolution of Enterprises would be the right path forward Mallon stated it is too early to tell.
With the Emporia City Commission to take up the study during its next regular meeting Wednesday, KVOE also asked if Enterprises has any specific talking points drawn up. Mallon responded saying their plan at this time is to sit back, listen and take in all of the thoughts and opinions shared during that time.
The Vision First study was approved by the Emporia City Commission during its May 15 meeting with commissioners noting they are simply trying to gauge how economic development can be improved within the city. City commissioners were originally planning additional conversations on the study during their October 2 meeting, however, those plans were pushed back to this coming Wednesday at the request of Emporia’s various eco-devo entities to allow more time to study the report fully.
