Now three days after a fatal train-pedestrian incident northeast of Emporia, Lyon County deputies are still trying to determine the victim’s identity.
According to Deputy Brandon Early, Amtrak officials said a passenger train hit a person who was standing in the middle of the tracks. As they investigated, Lyon County deputies found a male victim who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident happened shortly before 3:50 am Tuesday along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks between Roads 190 and 200. Deputies and Amtrak Police are investigating.
