Earlier this year, former Lyon County judge Gary Rulon passed away. Now another former Lyon County judge has died.
John Conklin was 83 when he died in Kansas City, Missouri, on Sunday.
Conklin was a trooper in the Kansas Highway Patrol for three decades, rising to the rank of Master Trooper before retiring. He then served the Fifth Judicial District — Lyon and Chase counties — as magistrate judge.
Funeral services will be at 10 am Friday at Flint Hills Community Church near Cottonwood Falls. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in the Toledo township. Friends and family may sign a book of remembrance from 1-5 pm Thursday at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home.
Rulon, who had served as Fifth District judge before ascending to the Kansas Court of Appeals, was 83 when he died in August.
