Emporia State University Health and Human Performance students were focusing on much more than just physical health during the Interactive Health Fest Saturday at Flint Hills Mall.
For students taking part and sharing information with residents, the event provided an opportunity for them to flex more than just their physical abilities it was also a workout for their social skills. Rod Farmer, a defensive back for the Emporia State football team, focused on hydration, which he says is very important in his chosen sport and he hopes the information was as helpful to the community as it was for himself.
Camden Liebau, a pre-chiropractic student, says the opportunity to connect with so many residents was the highlight of the whole event for him.
Elizabeth Willhite was thankful for the opportunity to engage with individuals from several different backgrounds. With plans to pursue physical therapy as a career, Willhite says the ability to converse and connect with clients from all walks of life will be a huge asset.
Christina Walsh who is also planning a career in physical therapy says she was focusing on her relationship and trust-building Saturday.
In addition to the tables and booths set up by students, community members could also interact with various health agencies from around the community, participate in games and register for several prizes.
