Area residents got rainfall as part of a line of showers and thunderstorms Monday. They just didn’t get much of it.
The KVOE studios reported nothing measurable after the activity ended Monday night. The Emporia Municipal Airport got 0.01 inches. Other totals:

Drought has been gradually deepening since our most recent significant rainfall a month ago, when the area got anywhere from 1-3 inches of rain. There has been no measurable rain recorded at the KVOE studios since then. Area residents have a slight to moderate chance of showers and storms Monday afternoon into early Friday morning before dry conditions return into at least early next week.
Most of the northern half of the KVOE listening area is in moderate drought, according to the US Drought Monitor. The southern half, including Emporia, is abnormally dry. The Kansas Water Office has Wabaunsee County in a drought warning and all other area counties, Lyon County included, in a drought watch.
