The Emporia High boys soccer team needed 20 extra minutes against St. Mary’s Academy on Tuesday night. Neither team could score a goal in the two extra sessions in a 1-1 draw at the EHS Turf Field.
Emporia High held the lead for the majority of regulation getting a first half goal from Thiago Esquivel. St. Mary’s Academy scored the equalizer with just over two minutes left in the second. The Spartans had opportunities in both extra sessions including a penalty kick that was not converted. Emporia High coach Victor Ibarra said the Spartans had their opportunities to win another match.
Emporia High (6-8-1) will travel to Junction City for its regular season finale on Thursday.
