We saw another record high temperature at the Emporia Municipal Airport on Tuesday and may see another one Thursday.
Tuesday’s high hit 88 degrees, above the record of 87 set in 2020. Thursday could see a high of 89. The current record is 86 degrees set in 2012.
After temperatures get into the upper 80s Thursday afternoon, the entire area has a 50-50 shot of showers and thunderstorms for the evening hours. The forecast then clears out again until at least the middle of next week, with abnormally dry to moderate drought conditions already in place areawide.
