Jury trial dates have been set in an Emporia aggravated assault and attempted kidnapping case.
During a pretrial hearing Tuesday, Judge Jeff Larson finalized potential trial start dates in the case against Juan Baza-Morales: Dec. 16, Jan. 6 or Jan. 21. Trial could last two days, based on the current schedule.
The case also has a motion hearing Nov. 20, with a submission deadline of Oct. 25. The status hearing will be Dec. 11.
Baza-Morales is charged with single counts of aggravated assault, aggravated battery, attempted aggravated kidnapping, aggravated witness or victim intimidation and criminal threat after an alleged incident in early April. The attempted kidnapping charge has an alternate of criminal restraint.
