The American Red Cross Central Plains Division wants you to donate blood, and it has several opportunities ahead.
After a two-day blood drive concluded Tuesday at Emporia Presbyterian Church West Campus, Emporia High’s Student Council has a drive coming at the school from 7:30 am to 2 pm Thursday. Spokesman and Emporia High student Jax Cole says the Student Council does a lot of work with these blood drives.
Coming up in November will be a drive at Emporia’s American Legion Post 5 on Nov. 4, Flinthills Mall on Nov. 18 and St Marks Lutheran Church on Nov. 18. There is also a blood drive at William Allen White Elementary on Dec. 5.
These events are on the community calendar as one of the Red Cross’s most active members, Susan Faler, continues treatments for tongue cancer. Central Plains Director Jane Blocher says Faler has been a trooper throughout her treatments.
Blocher says the need for donations remains constant and urgent to critical as we get close to winter. All blood types are needed. To set appointments, call 800-RED-CROSS or go online to redcrossblood.org.
