The Emporia State volleyball team dropped their second five-set decision of the season to Washburn Saturday afternoon at White Auditorium. After rallying from two sets down, the Lady Hornets couldn’t complete the reverse sweep in a 25-22, 25-20, 21-25, 21-25, 15-6 loss in the Turnpike Tussle. ESU actually outhit Washburn in the first set but allowed five service aces to the visitors on the way to being out-aced 10-5 in the match. After pulling within two in the fifth, Washburn closed out the match with seven-straight points to end it. Weronicka Wrzesinska tallied 19 kills and hit .218 to lead ESU while recording 14 digs. Rayishon Jackman also had a double-double with 14 kills and a match-high 28 digs. Mia Frisbie tallied six total blocks while Brailee Bogle split time at setter with Sydney Fiatte with Bogle registering 29 assists and Fiatte finishing with 28. ESU (14-6, 6-4 MIAA) returns to action Wednesday to face Northwest Missouri at White Auditorium to continue a five-match homestand. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
