Red flag warnings are beginning to pop up across the KVOE listening area with high fire danger expected to start the work week.
Both Chase and Morris counties are now under red flag warnings from noon to 8 pm Monday reflecting the extreme fire danger that will be in place Monday through Tuesday. Current forecasts are calling for temperatures in the mid-80s Monday with low humidity levels and wind gusts between 40-50 mph throughout the day.
Tuesday’s conditions will be similar with temperatures in the low-80s and winds around 40 mph.

Sunday 12:12 pm: Extreme fire danger possible to start work week; Chase County in burn ban until at least Wednesday
Much of the KVOE listening area could deal with extreme fire danger Monday and Tuesday.
A rapid increase in temperatures from the mid-60s Saturday to the mid-70s Sunday will be followed by a high in the mid-80s Monday. Low relative humidity levels and southerly wind gusts between 40-50 mph will also accompany this weather.
Tuesday will have high temperatures in the low 80s and more southerly winds above 40 mph.
Chase County has enacted a burn ban through at least Wednesday. So far, it is the only area county to announce a burn ban. The National Weather Service has not announced a fire weather watch or red flag warning for any period this week.
