An Ottawa man has been arrested on suspicion of both drug and traffic violations following a brief chase in Osage County early Wednesday.
According to Osage County Sheriff Chris Wells, a deputy initiated a traffic stop just after 2:10 am for an alleged traffic violation at 10th Street and Topeka Avenue in Lyndon. The suspect vehicle allegedly failed to stop leading to a pursuit that came to an end near milepost 14 on Kansas Highway 68 following the deployment of tire-deflating devices by Franklin County deputies.
The driver of the vehicle, 57-year-old Tony W. Bass of Ottawa was arrested on 10 alleged counts including flee and elude, driving under the influence, attempted battery on law enforcement, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a vehicle without a required ignition interlock device and battery on law enforcement.
Bass was taken to the Osage County Jail where he remains at last word. Formal charges are pending.
