A preliminary hearing in a Lyon County drug distribution case will have to be delayed.
A bench warrant was issued for Marquise Roberto Richardson after he failed to appear for his hearing Wednesday. Documents on the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal say Richardson is in Department of Corrections custody for a parole violation. Besides issuing the bench warrant, Judge Doug Jones also said Richardson violated bond terms, so bond has been forfeited.
Richardson faces eight counts in Lyon County District Court. The lead counts are distributing up to a kilogram of cocaine, at least 450 grams of marijuana and up to 1,000 dosage units of LSD as part of a short chase in east Emporia in July. He’s also charged with possessing paraphernalia, interference with law enforcement and domestic battery.
