With less than one minute on the clock, the Emporia State women’s soccer team converted a corner kick to level the match for a 1-1 tie against #15 Missouri Western on Friday at the ESU pitch. The Griffons held the lead after scoring first with just over 10 minutes remaining in the first half. With time running out, the Lady Hornets put every player near the penalty box including the goalie and the Abby Bachman corner kick found senior Hadlie Lowe who launched it into the back of the net for the equalizer. She said the play was a blur.
Head coach Jane Grimley-Gunn said the Lady Hornets were going all-in.
ESU was outshot 13-11 in the match but had one more corner kick than the Griffons. The Lady Hornets (5-7-3, 3-5-2 MIAA) return to action Sunday for their final road contest of the regular season at Northwest Missouri. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
