An investigation continues after a UTV crashed in Hartford early Friday evening, sending one rider to a hospital for treatment.
Lyon County Deputy Danny Broyles says the incident happened at 510 State in Hartford shortly after 6:30 pm. Broyles says the driver, 17-year-old Willie Clariett III, was operating a side-by-side UTV and tried unsuccessfully to make a turn at an unspecified high rate of speed. Instead, the UTV came to rest on its side, trapping Clariett’s leg underneath it. Once the UTV was uprighted, Broyles also says Clariett drove to Olson’s residence so 911 could be called.
Broyles says Clariett was not wearing a seatbelt and was taken to Newman Regional Health for treatment of unspecified injuries. Olson, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not listed as hurt.
