The Emporia Municipal Band will have a musical salute to Veterans on Sunday.
The concert entitled “In Their Honor” will take place at 3 p.m. at the Emporia Granada Theatre. Admission is free and donations for the band for Match Day will also be accepted.
On KVOE’s Morning Show recently, Emporia Municipal Band Director Nancy Riecker says the setlist will feature some new and classic favorites.
Riecker says the band is excited to play another concert, besides their Christmas Concert and all summer long. Riecker says her goal when she became director was to extend the celebration with Veteran’s Day with a concert.
The band’s concert surrounds a packed weekend of activities as part of the All Veterans Tribute with Freedom Fest taking place on Saturday and the Veteran’s Day Parade at 9:30 a.m. Monday which will be followed by the memorial service at Soden’s Grove at 11 a.m.
