A special check presentation Monday highlighted one of the latest donations through the Emporia Community Foundation’s Morgan Wilkie Fund.
The fund says a $2,000 grant, announced this past summer, has been handed to Hetlinger Developmental Services for the purchase of a new therapeutic swing. This new feature at Hetlinger is geared towards adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities in Hetlinger’s retirement program.
The Wilkie Fund was created by Clara Wilkie Sharpe in memory of her parents and late husband to help provide care for elderly residents, women and children in Emporia and across Lyon County. The fund has had a busy year, also helping Southwick House to create space for elderly residents as that agency works towards construction of a new facility serving women and families in crisis situations.
More information about the Wilkie Fund is available online at emporiacf.org or by calling 620-342-9304.
