More than a week after a boil water advisory was issued for Emporia and several surrounding communities, all areas have been cleared as of Friday afternoon.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment cleared Park Place Communities Mobile Park home from the advisory just before 4 pm Friday. Also Friday afternoon, KDHE announced it had pulled the cities of Allen and Admire which were originally listed as being included in Lyon County Rural Water District 1 which also covers the city of Americus.
RWD 1 was removed from the advisory Wednesday, however, Allen and Admire were not included in that decision according to KDHE.
With Friday’s clearances the boil water advisory, in place since early last Tuesday, is now at a complete end. The advisory was issued after high levels of turbidity were detected at the Emporia Water Treatment Plant between late last Monday and early Tuesday due to high levels of rainfall the week prior and several mechanical failures at the plant.
