Copies of Beyond the Banners Volume II have been “flying off the shelves” since they went on sale Monday but do not worry, local retailers are well stocked according to Emporia Main Community Development Coordinator Jessica Buchholz during an appearance on KVOE’s Morning Show Wednesday.
The latest installment of the books which capture information provided as part of Main Street’s Veterans Banner project went on sale on Veterans Day at various locations including the Emporia Main Street offices, KVOE studios and Middleground Books. Those interested in purchasing a copy who may not live in the local area can also order books online at beyondthebanners.com.
The cost is $10 per book or you can purchase three for $25. This release of volume II comes seven years after the first installment of the publication in 2017 and was once again made possible thanks to a partnership between Main Street, IM Design and KVOE.
As with the first installment, all proceeds from book sales will go to support a variety of veterans initiatives and programs including the Emporia All Veterans Memorial and USD 252 Southern Lyon County Honor Flight program. On top of those programs, Buchholz says this year organizers are looking to enlist the local community in helping to decide what additional causes those dollars should go to support.
