Open enrollment for applying for health insurance is underway.
As part of KVOE’s most recent Medicare Minute, certified SHICK or Senior Health Insurance Counselor for Kansas, counselor Karen Mayse says there are changes yearly when it comes to applying for Medicare.
With open enrollment well underway, Mayse warned scammers looking to obtain information. Mayse says patients should not answer any phone calls from any number they don’t recognize and don’t give out their Medicare information to anyone who calls, texts, or emails them randomly.
If residents need assistance with their choices, they’re encouraged to schedule appointments by calling the North Central-Flint Hills Area on Aging at 800-432-2703 or going online to ncfhaaa.com. Mayse says they’re accepting in-person, Zoom, and phone appointments with counselors at the Friendship Center at 221 W Logan Avenue and an event on November 21 and 22 at the Anderson Building on the Lyon County Fairgrounds.
