The 11th annual Emporia Community Foundation Match Day is right around the corner, in fact, its coming up Monday.
Staff and leadership of ECF have been hard at work gearing up for the event and ECF Executive Director Linda Kehres Schmidt recently took a brief moment away from preparations to join KVOE’s Morning Show and preview the upcoming event. Official giving gets underway at midnight Monday, however, Schmidt says residents have been able to donate since October 7 and they have taken advantage of the early giving opportunity.
Donations for Match Day will be accepted until 11:59 pm Monday and Kehres Schmidt reminded listeners Thursday that there are more ways than one to give.
In-person donations will be accepted at the ECF offices, 527 Commercial Street Suite B, beginning at 9 am Monday. Keheres Schmidt tells KVOE News that one addition to this year’s series of events will be a leaderboard that will keep track of the top non-profits receiving donations.
She says it is her hope the leaderboard will help to entice a little “friendly competition” between organizations and donors and help to bring in additional dollars this year. ECF will host a wrap-up party beginning at 6 pm in its offices Monday and will have the formal check presentation ceremony on December 3 at Flint Hills Mall.
