Besides getting more much-needed rainfall, Emporia and areas served by city water avoided any issues with turbidity.
Emporia was under a boil water advisory for five days two weeks ago, and rural water districts served by Emporia were advised to boil their water into last week — in some cases, for much of last week. City Manager Trey Cocking and Public Works Director Dean Grant say there were no issues with turbidity, or cloudiness, in the water.
Emporia transitioned from its usual ferric chloride blend chemical treatment to a straight ferric chloride and raised the amounts of chemicals being used while the boil water advisory was in effect. The city has not yet switched back to the ferric chloride blend at its normal levels, according to Grant.
The KVOE listening area got anywhere from 1-1.6 inches of rain Monday.
